We hope you all had a blessed Thanksgiving celebrating with family and friends.  Last week, we had a team of contestants from Premier Communications and here's what they had to say about DesignIt 2012.

Thank you to Vander Berg Furniture for giving us the opportunity to come together as a team outside of our workplace to do something fun & different!

We chose the design for our room as a group and really think it portrays a warm, cozy place that is always a pleasure to come home to.  We had quite a large group of girls with many different design techniques, so it was fun to put it all together and see the outcome.

We were asked what we plan on using the $1000.00 shopping spree to Vander Berg Furniture for, if in fact we won the competition…We have decided as a team, representing Premier Communications, that we would like to donate this to the Family Crisis Center.

Again, thank you to Vander Berg Furniture for giving us this FUN opportunity!

Adrian Wisner

For quite some time we’ve been wondering what would happen if we paired two great organizations with the purpose of meetings people’s needs worldwide.  Enter KTIV, Siouxland’s premier television news outlet, and Hope Haven, a local non-profit with a worldwide reach.

Adrian Wisner, Sales Manager at KTIV, was kind enough to enter DesignIt 2012.  If her design is chosen, the $1000 prize will be donated to Hope Haven.  We caught up with Adrian after she had a few days to reflect on her experience.

Why did you choose the pieces that you did to design around?

I actually chose the accent piece first and chose to build the rest of the room around that central piece.

How would you describe your design style?

Very contemporary, and this is reflected throughout my entire home.  I really like the idea of being creative and DesignIt 2012 offered an outlet to show off that creativity and help out a great cause.  I’ve always said that if I were to entertain another career path it may just have to be as an interior designer.

Would you recommend Vander Berg Furniture and Flooring?

Absolutely!  I was very impressed with the quality, selection, and the ease of being able to shop at Vander Berg Furniture & Flooring.  Patti was great to work with and shopping there is simple as the entire store is organized in room arrangements.  This way you can see how it will work in your home before making your purchase.

What else would you like us to know?

This was just a pleasant experience for me.  It was fun to be exposed to the store and be able to work with Patti.  We even got a compliment on the room arrangement before we ever left the mall!

A big thanks to Adrian, KTIV, and Hope Haven for their participation in DesignIt 2012!

Betty Anderson

This week we are taking a look in to Betty Anderson's design for DesignIt 2012.  Be sure to check out her photo on Facebook.  "Like" it and "Share" it to vote for Betty's design.

Why did you choose the pieces that you did to design around?

One would think that choosing pieces to design a room would be easy if you had a whole furniture store to select from and budget was not an issue, right? As I said, one would think.

I wanted to design a space that was inviting, warm, comfortable and relaxing.  I found myself walking around the store so undecided...there are too many great pieces to choose from!  On my first visit the grey sofa and chaise caught my eye and I kept coming back to it, so inviting and a perfect size for the space.  You know what they say, go with your first instinct.  Who wouldn’t be relaxed nestled in that beautiful black leather chair and ottoman?  Visits to follow would provide the rustic Restoration Hardware inspired tables that were a must because they are so versatile.  With the foundation of the design established pulling in other complimentary pieces fell into place and readily available at the store.

With Vander Berg Furniture and Flooring providing this opportunity, I felt it was important to feature the “total package” they have to offer.  That was why I chose to incorporate the flooring portion of their business also.

How would you describe your design style?

Although not all design styles are my taste I do appreciate all types of design.  I would say my design style is traditional with a rustic flair.  I love to re-purpose or up-cycle items giving them new life and purpose, using items tastefully in an unexpected fashion is always rewarding for me.

Why did you sign up for DesignIt 2012?

I had a  friend encourage me to sign up, so I checked into it, thought it would be a fun challenge and signed up that day.

What would you do with the $1000 shopping spree?

Upon signing up I knew exactly what I would spend the $1000 on, but after doing the display and spending time in the store, it makes my decision much more challenging.  A new dining room table to replace my 18 year old hand me down is at the top of my priority list at this time, again, going with my first instinct.

What else would you like us to know?

The opportunity of DesignIt 2012 came at a perfect time, and being creative has always been an outlet for me.  Let’s face it, with the busyness of today’s world it is easy to put off and forget to enjoy the gifts we are given.

Thank you, Vander Berg Furniture and Flooring, you are great to work with and I had a blast!
